FULL VIDEO: Barack Obama Victory Speech November 4th 2008

Barack Obama's victory today in the 2008 US Presidential Election was a good one, fought hard and fair and fought for the democratic rights of all Americans, no matter what political colour they are.

John McCain put up good opposition but just couldn't do it against fierce opposition from political foes and the media.

Its now time to bury the platitudes, the vacuous empty speeches filled with meaningless trite slogans and get on with actually going something.

Lets hope today's promises are not broken by tomorrows realities.

KiwiRail value derailed

I had to get this billboard photo from Whaleoil because I couldn't find it on any Labour Party affiliated website.

Perhaps they are embarrassed.

They should be.

The accounts reveal the value of KiwiRail has been slashed $242 million, more than a third, since the Government bought the business from Australian firm Toll in July for $690 million.

The "fair value" of KiwiRail is now $448 million, a loss of about $56 for every New Zealander.

KiwiRail is a key plank in Labour's election billboards, which include Kiwibank and KiwiSaver. "Keep it Kiwi, vote Labour" the billboards sayMore

Today we find out that the Crown accounts show the "value" of KiwiRail have dropped by almost a quarter of a billion dollars since Cullen bought it just a few month ago.

This brings KiwiRails value down to just $448 million. Not bad going in just two months.

Of course Treasury puts the value of KiwiRail at alot less than that.

$125 million is their true value of Mikey's wee train set.

Duncan Donut

Duncan Garner reiterates his journalistic integrity today over releasing "secret tapes" supplied to him by Labour Party insiders:

3 News political reporter Duncan Garner says "it is not 3 News’ job to censor the news".

“If we didn't report it we would be failing in our duty…all 3 News can do is broadcast the material and be as balanced and as careful about it as possible,” he said. TV3.co.nz

Its a shame he forgot another essential journalistic rule, it ain't 3 News job to manufacture news either, its their job to simply report it.

Balanced? a chip on both of "the Donut's" shoulders is the truth of the matter.

It isnt easy to tell the difference
between Duncan Garner and a
high calorie,low nutritional value
Dunkin Donut.

*Duncan Garner is henceforth to be called Duncan Donut by this blog because Duncan has a hole in the middle where his journalistic intergrity should be and donuts make you fat, like Duncan.
