List of schools ignoring National Standards

Below is the list of schools that will ignore national standards to be brought in during 2011. There are 225 schools out of just over 2000 which are ignoring the standards and should be avoided by parents if possible as the teaching standards and levels of education will generally be lower than at the other schools who will adopt the standards.

The teachers and principals at these schools do not want to tell parents how their kids are doing and therefore how well they are being taught.

These schools are also ignoring their direct employers, the Government and their indirect employers, parents, who wanted national standards when they voted National in 2008.

This is clearly a sackable offense. You can bet if I was an employee my employer would send me down the road for disobeying my directives.

This comes on top of teachers unions disrupting the education of 10s of thousands of children as they go on strike to get massive wage increases.

  2. I was searching for the list of schools on google and it sent me to your blog. I feel compelled to comment as your commentary that accompanies the list is rather ignorant.

Schools already have standards in place which they currently report to parents. This is not about wanting to keep that information from parents, this is about not wanting to introduce a flawed system which creates more red tape for educators to wade through.

By opting out of the extra, unnecessary work the National Standards force teachers to perform, teachers at the above listed schools will be able to spend more time *teaching our children*.

As a parent, I would be more likely to pick one of the above schools on that basis alone.

Anon, unfortunately what you say is highly misleading.

Parents do not have easy understood information in written form about how their kids are doing in relation to other pupils in the class, the school and compared to other schools. It is up to the teacher how much info is given on the child and only if one asks.

Parents want standards and information on their children and they want to compare that information with other schools on an easily available website.

That way parents have the control and not the teacher and most importantly can then make choices for their kids based on that information.

This is also good to see if the teacher is doing its job properly and whether it might be time for the parent to find a better alternative.

If you are a teacher, why be scared of being evaluated like other employees are?
