The Left

What is it with Metiria Turei and her wanton lust for power at all costs?

Well one only has to look slightly down the hallway towards a wall of shiny teeth to see the answer to that.

Jacinda Adern is simply just flaky. Shes processed, manufactured and young, too young to run a country. For fucks sake shes the spend, spend, spend, spend, spend.... leader whereas Helen Clarke was the spend, spend spend leader.

Jacinda has not finished yet. She will spend your money like it was printed.

When Turei stole money and then committed electoral fraud that was one thing. To then come out and defend her position in such a bald faced way is simply deigning the obvious.

She has ripped off you, me and all the other hard working kiwis who see the benefit as a hand up. NOT a handout for as long as you need it'

She has also taken a lot of support with her but she undeniably has damaged the Green brand.

The majority of her support is now looking for a place to put their votes.

May I suggest David Seymour . A man with obvious talent.

Share Investor Bows out of the WHS

Image result for the warehouse nz in comics

Well they are taking their bloody time about it. But finally The Warehouse Group Ltd [WHS.NZX] are selling their financial services unit.

They shouldn't have bought it in the first place.

Seeing they are doing this and it is going to take "4-5 weeks" the rest of what they need to do to stop their ship from sinking will probably take 2 -3 years. They simply don't have this luxury of time.

But they cant see this.

As a result I ditched my meagre holding of 100 shares for $2.28.

It was only meant as a means to cause trouble but I don't wanna do that anymore.

So I'm gone.

The Warehouse will be history as well, Foodstuffs have written down their shareholding to zero. I suspect the other major shareholders have as well.

You too?

Sky City Entertainment Group Ltd: The Americas Cup

Image result for sky city and america's cup

Sky City Entertainment Group Ltd [SKC.NZX]group is set to become a net benefactor of the extra spending the 2021 Americas Cup would bring if it came to Auckland. Back in 2003 when we last unsuccessfully defended the Americas Cup the benefits were about $400 million 1 2 3 in 2000's dollars.

I don't have to tell you dear readers that come Monday 26th should we wake up smell the coffee turn on the internet and find out we are the holders of the old Mug, it will be a call to our respective Hotels to book them out for a trip to New Zealand to wrestle it from our clammy hands as soon as possible.

Come on, Auckland really is the true home of the Americas Cup and that is where it will be held - whatever anyone else tells you.

In the 2 defenses we have held in Auckland Sky City has benefited directly and indirectly from the cup.

In 2000 and then again in 2003 Sky City benefited by having teams "living" in their hotel suites and gambling in their den/s of inequity.

The benefit once again of having the extra tourists here spending up large on the same things I mentioned above do not have to be spelled out.

Sky City is in the box seat with its convention centre coming online in 2019 it could the boost that is needed because we know it doesn't make money.

With all the associated infrastructure needed it looks good for the building company's too - no not Fletcher Building dear readers they have a  negative $100 m hole in the ground right outside the TVNZ studios.

Shares last traded at $4.41 as of today's date - you have to buy now on weakness before the 26 of June 2017.

2021 Auckland Americas Cup?

Bring it on.

Xero: I've Changed my View

Xero 2017 Earnings

Well that's it. I finally have come around and now I'm starting to like Xero Ltd [XRO.NZX].

I previously hated it as an investment. Loved it as a company always have because its founder is from Hawkes Bay and I originate from the same parts.

Rod Drury really is a man with a PASSION.

It looks like to me that this passion is continuing to rub off on people.

My brother Tony Rickard owns a business down there, East Coast Powder Coaters and just recently has switched on over to Xero.

Hes a particular luddite and for him to move on over to Xero from what he previously used is no mean feat. I wonder if it's his wife Helen who's responsible for this.

Whether they make a profit or not is part of the mystery. I don't know. Don't think Rod knows either. That was forecast 5 years ago.

I just think if he can get my brother Tony using their software, he can get anyone - given time. That includes the rest of the world. If you have met him and I have on several occasions you just have to ask him about Xero and that's it, you have a one way conversation. He's passionate and I think because i havent even seen the software, there's a bloody good reason for this. It's good.

Anyway Tony's made the move.

I think it's because of the simplicity of the actual product. Its simple. Simple as that.

My bro believes in things that are simple and cheap - otherwise out the door it goes.

In the ten years I've been writing this blog, I've written about Xero around 10 times and interviewed Rod himself 7 years ago.

I get the impression that Rod doesn't particularly like self - aggrandisement  he just likes to get down and do it but I think you're on to a winner here and it's just going to take the rest of the world some time to click onto the fact that Xero is a product they should try, try it - you'll love Xero.

Rod Drury: Earnings out tomorrow. He emailed me at 8.50am, the 10 May 2017.
